Teens 'will not follow parents' finance advice'
young people are sloth to follow the advice of their parents when seeking help with finance matters, it has been revealed.
According to personal finance provider NatWest, around 59 per cent of such consumers would not pay heed to parental advice on money.
However, some 43 per cent of young people feel that they need help with money as they lack sufficient knowledge on personal finance matters.
Mark Worthington, NatWest head of youth banking, said: "The reality of today's teenagers is that their financial circumstances are much more complicated than that of their parents at the same age.
He added that many young people take on part-time jobs and "whilst they want to enjoy some of what they've earned they also want to know how to manage money properly".
According to money news from Barclays earlier this month, more young people than ever are looking to set up their own businesses as a means of supporting themselves when they leave school and university.
