Tax debtors 'should seek help with finance'
Consumers who are experiencing trouble with debt as a result of the taxes they are paying should seek advice, it has been claimed today.
According to TaxDebts, a subsidiary of Sterling Green Group, many people consider tax a "big scary monster" which they can't deal with themselves.
But it suggests that once it is explained to them, many people would be able to check they are being charged the correct amount of tax independently.
Rachel Fish, commercial manager at the personal finance advice firm, remarks: "There is a lot of burying heads in the sand – like any kind of debt – you need to get it sorted. If you don't understand you can get very bogged down in it."
She added that consumers are responsible for their own tax and that ensuring they are on the right code is a personal duty - while failing to fulfil it could result in a personal finance disaster.
