Borrowers 'need to accept their responsibilities'
Consumers in the UK need to take more responsibility for their personal finance situation, it has been claimed.
The reality check has been delivered by Charlwood Leigh, an independent personal finance advisory service that asserts many people do not accept their responsibility for their spending.
A spokesperson for the firm said that spending was a "personal choice", but that with the freedom that such a sentiment suggests comes a need to acknowledge culpability.
Grant Hughes, director of Charlwood Leigh, said: "If people don't start saving we are in for some serious tax in the future…Parents should be saving so that their children aren't left to pay for them and their children should be taught to do the same thing."
In related money news, recent figures from personal finance charity Credit Action suggest that consumer credit lending has risen by 5.8 per cent in the last 12 months.
